Chatos

CEIDAS has identified new social risks that threaten the fulfillment of the rights of girls, boys and adolescents in Mexico, such as:

  • New family dynamics as a result of new patterns in parent's labor activities;  the consequences are: a reduction in the quality time the family spends together, and both, the attention and care children receive from their parents.
  • Lack of social and communication skills to encourage dialogue, communication, and harmony among families.
  • Violence, careless parents, and children lacking attention in their family unit.

CEIDAS has studied the way to contribute to the improvement of child life conditions, through new mechanisms that stimulate and strenghthen values such as: tolerance, caring and acceptance.

We have developed “Chatos”, a kit of cuddly toys to strengthen social skills and encourage children and adolescents to express their emotions.

According to marketing research and pedagogic studies, children liked Chatos, mainly because they felt identified with the cuddly toys:

“It is bald, he looks like me”
“It looks like my little sister”

Children reacted with empathy towards Chatos, saying they were “nice, funny and silly like them”. Chato´s colors were very attractive to the children:

“They are really cool”
“They look awesome”

Chatos´design make them attractive to play with and take along. They are the perfect gift to show your children, nephews, or grandchildren that you always think of them.

*The word “chato” in Mexico is used as a nickname of someone with a small, button-like, nose.
